About Activity Challenges

Open to all k-8 public, private and charter schools located in sponsored regions, Fire Up Your Feet Challenge Awards help support Safe Routes to School programs and other school-based health and wellness initiatives. Simple and fair, the Challenge Awards aren’t based on minutes or miles but on the percentage of participants based on your school enrollment. It doesn’t matter if your school is large or small, it just matters how fired up you can be to sign up parents, students and teachers to track at least once starting from the time they register during the month-long Challenge period.

To register for the Fire Up Your Feet Activity Challenge, enter your name and zip code here. For a step-by-step registration demo, check out our video tutorials. Our webinars can also help steer you through the basic information about how to sign up and how to help get families Fired Up to move more, play more and enjoy the benefits of physical activity before, during and after school.

Activity Tracking Timelines

Schools in participating regions are welcome to register for the Fire Up Your Feet Activity Challenges anytime. To receive full credit for participating, parents and staff should track activity a minimum of one time during the Challenge. Once registered, expect to receive weekly Fire Up Your Feet email updates highlighting the winning schools during the month-long Challenge. Please contact us if you have registered and are not receiving weekly Challenge emails.

Classroom Activity

Teachers can track the physical activity minutes for their entire class by entering the number of students and number of minutes the class performed a physical activity, such as instant recess. To track classroom activity, register as a Fire Up Your Feet participant and be sure to check the box indicating you are a teacher. Check out this demo video for a step-by-step tutorial demonstrating how to register a classroom.

Classroom minutes will not count toward Final Activity Challenge Award eligibility unless teachers send home copies of the Fire Up Your Feet Physical Activity Log so that parents can track their children’s classroom activity.

Classroom activity tracked by a teacher will count toward one small weekly Challenge Award for the school with the highest percentage of classroom participants tracking through a classroom teacher.

Activity Tracker Available for All Schools

While the Activity Challenge is only available to schools in selected sponsored regions, any school or family can utilize the tracker to help motivate their school community. Families and school staff can also take advantage our many resources.
